A Healthy Vacation Please!

Hello friends!

I trust your Christmas and New Year was more exciting than mine. I got the flu two days before Christmas and spend the whole week feeling miserable. I was able to be at home while I was sick and Quigley kept me good company. There were no Christmas pictures this year because when we opened presents all four of us were wearing masks! I'm sure it would have been a funny picture, but I had a high fever and felt terrible so we skipped it! I am glad that for those of us who have a relationship with Jesus we can celebrate Him all year long and not just one day!

Just as I was recovering from a horrible case of the flu I got a viral infection. That was diagnosed last Tuesday and I haven't left the house since. I've been resting and sleeping and watching lots of movies. I called my rheumatologist's office today because I was feeling bad. I didn't know if I was feeling sick from being sick or feeling sick because I haven't had my methotrexate shot for a month. After not taking it for three weeks I start to really notice...it only goes downhill from there. What I needed my doctor to help me figure out is if I was feeling the effects of the disease from being off of medication too long or if I was still sick. I was able to speak to her nurse who told me in no uncertain terms that I could not get my shot tomorrow or I would get very sick (the shot suppresses my immune system). After talking with her a while she told me that I just need to be patient and keep resting. I'm at a strange point in the sickness where I have to wait for my body to heal itself on its own (which it really can't do - pray for a miracle) or for the viral infection to turn into a bacterial infection that they can treat with antibiotics.

The killer is that while I am sick or if I am on antibiotics I can't get my methotrexate shot. So right now my immune system is overactive (because it's not being suppressed by the medication) and is busy attacking my body instead of the virus. What I need you to pray is that my body would recognize that there is a virus attacking it and to attack that instead of the good things in my body like muscles, joints, connective tissue and organs.

So I am trying to rest at home, get plenty of sleep and keep myself from going crazy(er) by watching movies, reading and working from home some. I really need you to pray that my body would be healthy by February 2nd. I am going to Disney World! My dad has a meeting there so mom and I decided to tag along. I am also incredibly excited because my friend Erin (Broken But Priceless Ministries) will be meeting us there and we get to meet for the first time and hang out for almost a week! EEK!!

Please pray that we would all get healthy (Erin got hit with the flu, and subsequent illnesses as well). Pray that our flights would cooperate and that we really would land at the same time in Orlando. Pray for good weather, healthy girls and God's favor on us that week. I'm sure we will do some planning for Broken but Priceless Ministries so pray against spiritual attack as well. We feel like God has some big things planned for us this year and I'm sure the devil isn't going to want us moving forward.

Thank you my friends for your much coveted prayers!
